Botox

Smooth-face-skin-after-hair-removal

BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.

Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, or damage caused by free radicals. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.

BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet to form over time.

Your doctor will inject BOTOX® Cosmetic into the muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet lines, temporarily reducing the activity of those muscles. The result is a reduction in the appearance of those lines.

Botox: Erase wrinkles without surgery!

Drop off the dry cleaning, get the oil changed, have your wrinkles erased, pick up the kids from school — wait, whose to-do list is this?

Cosmetic procedures don’t have to require general anesthesia.  Minor procedures, such as Botox injections, can ease wrinkles with the procedure taking less than an hour.  Today, having cosmetic work done can be a lunch-hour errand.

Does Botox Prevent Wrinkles?

Yes. Botox is highly purified toxins that can temporarily erase or reduce horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, crow’s-feet, and lip lines.

Who is Botox Cosmetic for?

Botox is for men and women of many different age groups.

Younger patients, and those without lines yet, can benefit from small amounts of Botox to prevent over active muscles from producing more permanent lines. Some people think that, because they are in their 20s or 30s, they are too young for Botox.  This is not true, as it is actually better if you start your Botox treatments early before the lines become visible.  Botox is great for prevention!

Older patients, and those who have already developed lines and wrinkles, will benefit from Botox with time, in reducing visible lines.  It is never too late to start Botox. The skin can become smooth again, it just may take a few treatments for the skin to relax. Laser treatments can also greatly improve the texture of the skin.

Is Botox Safe?

Botox is a very safe and effective treatment with no downtime for mild to severe lines and wrinkles of the face and neck.  Due to repetitive facial muscle movement, the skin begins to show deeper lines that can become more permanent.  Botox helps to relax the muscle and soften movement so the lines reduce and can eventually disappear.  Botox has been FDA approved for cosmetic treatments for over 10 years.  Initial results lasts an average of 3-4 months and can last longer with continued treatments.  You can still keep your facial expression when performed by an experienced injector.

Fillers

Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.

As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow’s feet become more apparent.

The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle.

Dermal fillers can be used to:

  • Plump thin lips
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars
  • Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation surgery.

Radiant Touch uses state of the art techniques for the administration of dermal fillers!!!

Radiant Touch uses blunt tip cannula instead of sharp needles which provide many ADVANTAGES:

Accuracy: the filler can be placed with great precision at any facial area.

Safety: the blunt tip of cannula prevents intra-arterial injection, the cause of most serious complications using needles, reduces trauma to the tissue and decreases the risk for blood vessel rupture, intravenous and/or arterial embolisms (reference).

Comfort: patients undergoing cannula injection experience much less discomfort than during needle injections. The entire lip, nasolabial fold, mandibular sulcus, cheek, or temple area can be augmented through a single puncture site. Only 2-4 entry points are needed for full face injections.

Speed: procedures with micro-cannulas are less time-consuming, because of the techniques used and decreased need for anesthesia (numbing cream or injections).

Recovery: the social downtime associated with traditional technique is practically eliminated with less edema and swelling and minor bruising and/or vessel laceration.

Value: fillers can be administered with greater precision so the results are more natural and less product is needed to treat most areas.

Flexibility: cannulas allow access to virtually any area of the facial anatomy for improvement with fillers. Previously hard to treat areas such as the delicate area under the eyes, hollow cheeks and the vertical cheek wrinkles are easily corrected using this technique.

New collagen: research suggests that moving the micro cannula back-and-forth in the dermis, stimulates the fibroblasts to produce new collagen, even without the addition of fillers. As a results the skin begins to tighten by initiating growth factors.

Blunt tipped micro-cannulas are newly FDA approved devices used by Plastic Surgeons and other expert injectors to inject popular fillers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juviderm, Belotero, Radiesse and Fat.  These devices are similar to the previously used hypodermic needles, but instead have a rounded tip with a side port or a flat tip.  Developed by CosmoFrance Inc., DermaSCULPT® needles were recently approved for use and marketing in the United States.  Recent studies have shown that patients experience less pain, swelling and bruising with the u se of micro-cannulas compared to the traditional needle.  The results of the treatment and longevity were both found to be excellent and safer than traditional techniques.

Described as “skin-sculpting” or “derma-sculpting,” there is anecdotal evidence a multi-pass technique at various levels produces a mechanical effect that stimulates more collagen production by fibroblasts in the skin and tissues.  The increased deposition of collagen is thought to be the cause of improved longevity and improvement seen with repeated filler injections.  This theory has been supported by several well-designed, in-vitro studies looking at bio-mechanical effects on collagen production by fibroblasts.  While traditional hypodermic needles will still be necessary for certain applications such as acne scars, traumatic scars and lip lines, blunt tipped micro-cannulas are set to largely replace needles in filler injections.  “We are thrilled that our patients are experiencing the benefits of this new technique that will rapidly become the new standard of care,” added Centeno.
