What happens during the procedure and how many treatments will I need?

During the procedure the area of skin to be treated will be scanned with laser light.  The laser light may cause some discomfort but topical anesthetic can be provided.  Let your physician know if you are very sensitive.  Treatment time varies depending on the size of the area being treated.  Treatment plans are personalized by your physician and will vary depending on the level of improvement you desire.  Temporary pigmentation changes are possible but only occur in a small amount of cases.

What can I expect after treatment?

You may experience some redness and slight swelling in the treatment area.  However, this should be gone in a few hours.  If the redness and swelling are present for a prolonged amount of time, consult your physician immediately.  The treated area should be kept clean and a sun screen with an SPF of at least 15 should be used when going outdoors.
